Kaelyn Usher, an archer and trapper from the Ridgewood, is a main character in Betrayal in Antara. She accompanies William Escobar and Aren Cordelaine in Chapters 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9 and Raal in Chapters 5 and 7, and appears briefly in the beginning of Chapter 4.
Biography[]

After the early death of her mother, who was said to have been drowned, Kaelyn was raised in the Ridgewood by her father, Garvin Usher. On her first hunting trip as a child, Kaelyn saved the life of a Grrrlf cub, Raal, by frightening away a bear who had treed him. Kaelyn and Raal subsequently grew up as close as siblings, with Raal welcome in Usher's home and Kaelyn considered his skin-sister and one of the local Grrrrlf pack.
As an adult, Kaelyn became a trapper and traveled widely across Antara. While traveling near Briala, she was attacked by bandits and met William Escobar and Aren Cordelaine when they intervened. Realizing they were heading in the same direction and determined to repay the two travelers for their help, Kaelyn joined the party and accompanied them as they made their way toward Panizo. Regardless of reaching her own destination, a friend in Balmestri to whom she had intended to sell some furs, she became interested in their mission and refused to leave them to the whims of fate.

- If a battle ends with Aren and William in critical condition, Kaelyn helps Aren stand and promises to get them both help.
- According to both William and Naku, Kaelyn's nostrils flare when she is angered.
